In this day and age of gaming, updates are an essential part of the development. Big or small, updates help make a game better, help add things that were there before, or can even fix things that were broken. For Nintendo, and their newest console the Switch, bringing updates to it and its games is crucial, especially for their best sellers. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been tearing up the sales since its release in late April, and now, its second update has gone live.
As revealed on the official Nintendo Support website, the update is both adding some new features, and refining other elements of the game. For example, if you happen to have a Pikmin Amiibo (whether it be the Olimar from the Smash Bros. line or the upcoming Hey! Pikmin Amiibo) you can unlock a Pikmin suit for your racer.
In online races, if you are not in first place, you will get items to help you move up a lot more. This will no doubt help out a lot of racers.
Also on the items side, only two players from now on will get the Piranha Plant item at same time. Furthermore, the Boomerang will be put back into the main item slot when the player catches it after a throw. There have been cases in online matches of the item wheel spinning infinitely, this won’t happen anymore. If you’re trying to select an outfit for your Mii, and the timer runs out, the controls will no longer freeze on you. For Spectator Mode, there should be a severe drop in “communication errors” that have been plaguing gamers.
