When it comes to Hideo Kojima, you know you’re going to get grand storytelling, compelling characters, action galore, and more. So, after the entire “incident” with Konami, Kojima set up his own production studio called Kojima Productions and immediately got to work on its first game Death Stranding. However, outside of a few trailers, we don’t know what to expect outside of some key actors and directors playing a part in it. Mainly, Norman Reedus, Guillermo Del Toro, and Mads Mikkelsen, all of whom have been in the various trailers.
Some inferences have been made about these characters, and the people portraying them, but, Mads Mikkelsen has noted in an interview during Tokyo Comic-Con that your inferences may be wrong.
“The characters are very dualistic in (Kojima’s) games: There is no such thing as a bad guy or a good guy in his games,” Mikkelsen said.
That is indeed what Kojima is known for, especially in his Metal Gear Solid franchise, which showed many characters not exactly being who we thought they were, not even the villains.
However, Mikkelsen did not deny that some of these characters are going to challenge you, but sometimes, they may assist:
“It is all a challenge; you have to go through these characters to achieve certain things. And it’s also a learning curve, and they will be an obstacle for you sometimes, and sometimes they will be a help for you.”
As if that wasn’t enough, he went on to note that the plot of the game may shift the alliances in interesting ways. So someone who may start out as a foe, may end up as a hero by the end of it. Yep, that sounds like Kojima.
We may be only hours away from hearing more about Death Stranding, as Kojima, Del Toro and Norman Reedus will all be present at The Game Awards tonight, and we’d be VERY surprised if something wasn’t shown from the title.
