A question on many Overwatch fan’s minds is how the whole loot system could be improved upon. The tales of heartbreak of spending countless hours playing seasonal events to come away with constant duplicates and an eye-watering lack of a Winston yeti skin for yours truly, it did raise the question as to whether there could be any kind of overhaul made to make the system work better.

Enter the community folk on Battle.net, who have been putting forward their suggestions of how a better loot system could be implemented. Kicking matters off was user Salem, who outlined some ideas for change that had been put forward. These included the chance to allow players to purchase currency, increasing the chance of legendaries dropping, more currency being rewarded for duplicates, and even a trading system to swap desired skins and more.

The main focus of many responses seems to focus on the credits system in particular, including DrScaphandre, who replied:

I think the loot system would be better if we had better ways to get credits. How many of you wanted to hang yourself when you got a Legendary, only to learn that it’s credits?

Meanwhile, on the same subject, AJb1205 responded:

200 is too low for a duplicate event legendary or epic. It should be 400 credits for a duplicate event legendary and double for whatever a duplicate epic is.

The lack of credits does seem to be a key issue with the current loot system, with the system that is in place not really offering much compensation for duplicates. Perhaps an increase would improve on this, giving players the opportunity to purchase skins or otherwise with extra credits that they earn.
