The League of Legends North American Challenger Series has started its Spring Split 2017. After Day 1, Delta Fox managed to secure the only 2-0 victory against Team Gates. All other match ups ended in a 1-1 split.
League of Legends NA CS Spring Split 2017
While the Challenger Series may not be the top tier competition for League of Legends in North America, it has long been a source of rising talent. Teams compete not only to defeat their opponents, but to make the sort of plays that will go viral and lead to their rise to the Championship Series.
After Day 1, however, no individual has achieved such stardom. The Challenger Series round robin functions a little differently from NA LCS, with teams playing only two matches no matter the outcome. Teams earn 3 points for a 2-0 victory, and 1 point for a 1-1 split. The only team to achieve the clean sweep so far is Delta Fox, after a hard fought Game 2 that went all the way into the 52nd minute.
The new team Gold Coin United managed to secure one of their two games against Big Gods Jackals, despite Visa delays for their world-class support player from Korea, MadLife. Whyin stood in for the team in the support role for their match up yesterday. MadLife has attended three of the past four All-Star Events, and most recently played for LCK team CJ Entus. He joins FeniX and Rikara as the South Koreans on Gold Coin, though he is the only one making his North American debut.
