Riot announced the beginning of VS. today, their first foray into missions and the concept of daily quests in their MOBA, League of Legends. Anybody is able to participate in VS., no RP required, but players looking to unload a bit of cash can also purchase special VS. Passes with exclusive content and rewards.

League of Legends VS.

The very first VS. campaign pits order against chaos. These alignments are championed by the new skins introduced in Patch 7.12, Dawnbringer Riven and Nightbringer Yasuo. But players don’t have to be playing with these skins, or even as these champions, to take part in the new event.

Players simply need to win any matchmade game in order to claim their initial Chaos or Order icon. Once they have it, they can equip it and complete new daily missions to earn tokens for whichever alignment they have chosen. These tokens can be forged into icons, key fragments, and new orbs.

Orbs are unique to this event, and come in both Order and Chaos varieties. They contain a guaranteed legacy skin shard, with a 50% chance to drop a bonus item. That bonus item can be a variety of the same sort of things you can forge tokens into, but it can also be a legacy Hextech exclusive skin shard.

The event runs from now until June 29th. Based on the amount of tokens earned, the number of games played with Order and Chaos icons equipped and the number of games where a Riven beats a Yasuo or a Yasuo beats a Riven, an overall winner will be declared. The meter at the top of the announcement from Riot will actually move as the balance between the two alignments shifts throughout the event.

Be sure to check out the announcement for all the details on VS., then boot up League of Legends and head to the Rift to see it for yourself.
