The development team at Riot revealed their latest champion for League of Legends with announcement of Ornn. A skilled blacksmith and recluse, Ornn has some pretty unique mechanics that give him unique staying power in lane.
Ornn, Blacksmith of the Freljord
As a blacksmith himself, Ornn doesn’t really care for the in-game shop that other champions rely on for gear. Instead, he can spend gold to make his own equipment as long as he is out of combat. That means he doesn’t need to back to buy, which gives him lane-staying power beyond any other champion currently in the game.
That’s half of his passive, Living Forge. The other half, Master Craftsman, means that Ornn’s teammates can access special upgrades on a select few items, effectively increasing their gold cap beyond that of the enemy team.
In terms of his kit, Ornn comes with a decent amount of control. His Q slows and creates a small pillar, His W can make his basic attacks knock enemies back, and increases the duration of any immobilization. His E is a charge, and if he collides with terrain (natural or player-made), he gets an AoE knock up. Even further, if he recasts his R the right way, he can knock up enemies in a line. All this means anybody facing a skilled Ornn player is going to be battle on his terms.
Ornn should be heading to the PBT server soon, now that Kayn is officially old enough to be on free champion rotation this week. For more details about the new champion, head to the official League of Legends website.
