Video games are a global market, and because of that, companies look at these markets and see where the best places are to put their games. What might surprise you though is that one of the biggest markets is in Latin America. In fact, within the last few years, the Latin America market has been the second fastest growing video game market out there. So much so that developers now look at countries like Brazil as a major point of interest. Also, conventions now look to their to show off their games and possibly host big talent, like at the BIG Festival.
This 8-day video game convention is about to enter its 5th year, and it’s going to be quite big, as they’re going to have more support from the video game industry than ever before. And along with those very special guests will be lectures, panels, round tables, showcases, meetings and even an awards competition for indie games. 10 studios from the US and the UK have been invited with their games to be in the Brazilian Independent Games Awards, which are spread across 8 categories with $15,000 being awarded between them all.

Bobby Wertheim, the Senior Content Manager at Sega will be there. Also Curtis Cherrington, Worldwide external development manager at EA, and David Stelzer, Board of Directors member of IGDA.
