With the release of a new Overwatch update today by Blizzard, the accompanying patch notes have confirmed some big changes to a certain heroes.
As far as balancing heroes goes, the primary focus has been on D.Va. Her Defense Matrix uptime has been found to be too strong, though reducing it would in turn make her far too vulnerable. Therefore, Blizzard has implemented a new ability for the character which allows her to shoot whilst flying, with the hope that it will give the tank hero alternative options whilst maintaining the Defense Matrix.
Another hero that is under the microscope is Mercy, who has been subject to some major changes. The latest update turns her Resurrect ability into a single target move, which hopes to prove more useful playing for and against the support hero. Her new ultimate, Valkyrie, opens up even more options for the character, and could be a similar game-changer as the changes made to D.VA.
The new Junkertown map is also accompanying the latest updates, which is located “in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback” according to Blizzard. The description continues: “Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches… and to survive.”
