The major Heroes of the Storm Global Championship League, or HGC for short, is holding their finals at BlizzCon, and this event is going to be huge. This is the largest field for this game’s esports tournament ever, and there’s massive prize money, a big trophy, and more on the line. So you can understand that Blizzard wants this tournament to not only go smoothly, but have players on a fair base. You might be surprised to hear that a popular character from the game isn’t allowed in the HGC Finals.
Junkrat. Yes, Junkrat from Overwatch has officially been banned from the HGC Finals, and apparently, it’s because players, as well as the Heroes Of The Storm Community, has asked for it. Well, asked and answered, because the official Twitter page for HGC posted this:

This move is getting a lot of people talking, including Reddit, where many players are chatting about whether this is right or not.
Some are of the opinion that removing a character like Junkrat (who you can guess causes people problems) removes a certain difficulty that players NEED to overcome. One Redditor referred to it as the “survival of the smartest,” and that true champions need to adapt to any situation.
Others think that this rule was made specifically for the Chinese and Australian players because they don’t have access to the PTR, and thus only have one form of Junkrat. But that shouldn’t mean he’s removed, just allowed in matches not involving them.
And of course, some are grateful he’s gone. Where do you stand on this?
