Hearthstone has kicked off their 2017 Championship Tour. Beginning on November 30th, Fireside Gatherings will be allowed to host Tavern Hero Qualifiers.
Hearthstone Tavern Heroes
Fireside Gatherings, essentially Hearthstone player groups that meet in public spaces, will soon be able to host Tavern Hero Qualifiers. In these qualifiers, players will compete head-to-head to earn the right to represent their inn at the 2017 Hearthstone Championship Tour. The qualifying rounds will take place at designated locations throughout Europe. Winners from the qualifiers will compete the day before Winter Playoffs begin. The top eight players from the Tavern Hero tournament will move on to the European Winter Playoffs. There, they will pit their skill and talents against the top 64 competitors from the point standings, and hope to proceed all the way to the championship.
Tavern Hero Qualifier Requirements
Blizzard hopes to encourage players to hold their own Tavern Hero Qualifier, but they will have to meet a number of requirements. The matches must be played using Standard decks and must be in the Conquest format. January 11th, 2017 is the deadline to register events. They also must be in a public place, and have a minimum of 16 players. Tavern Hero Qualifiers can only take place between November 30th and January 22nd. For the full list of requirements, see the Hearthstone official site. Potential hosts should note – Blizzard will not allow event organizers to participate in their own Tavern Hero Qualifiers.
The 2017 Hearthstone Championship Tour boasts a total prize pool of over U.S. $2 million, but is a relatively new annual tournament. The tournament champion will receive a prize of U.S. $1 million. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a free-to-play collectible card strategy game. The game is available for PC, Mac, Android and iOS, and includes cross-platform compatibility. Blizzard Entertainment released the game in early 2014.
