When it comes to games with vast rosters of characters, there are always going to be characters who are easy to use, easy to learn how to use, and easy to master. Just as there are characters that require a little bit of skill to use properly and characters that take a lot of skill to use properly. For Overwatch, there are set characters who fall into each category, with one of the more consensus picks for “needs skill to use” being Hanzo.
This comes from Battle.net user qpalzm112, who notes in their post that players who say Hanzo “is easy” are ignoring a few things:
“If you even think about saying the arrow hitboxes are massive, which they haven’t been for months, do us all a favor and close your window instead of replying,” they say.
Strong words, but do they ring true? Many Overwatch players think so, with the caveat that it appears that most mains (people who solely play one character) of Hanzo like to spam his arrows and just pray that someone gets hit by them rather than using actual precision that the character was built for. “He is given just enough cheese that the vast majority of crap Hanzo players stick with him,” says RockmSockm.
In fact, there seems to be more hate for “bad Hanzo mains” than there is for the level of skill it takes to use the character.
Ironically, there’s another controversy concerning Hanzo’s abilities, mainly the Scatter Arrow, a powerful ability that can take down basically any character in one shot, which may be the reason there are so many “bad Hanzo mains” out there. When all else fails, they can try and use that to “save the day”.
Where do you stand on Hanzo? Does he take more skill to use than other Overwatch characters? Let us know in the comments below.
