Not to say that grinding is boring for everyone in every MMO, but there is argument that games containing the method can often suffer from severe repetition. Whilst Black Desert Online isn’t the only guilty culprit, but it certainly does fall under that category.

Repeating the same task over and over again is always going to get boring eventually in all walks of life, and video games are no different. Some may even argue that games that offer grinding are unecessarily padding out gameplay for the sake of its longevity, whilst not really adding much in terms of sustenance.

Octia, a member of the Black Desert Online community, pointed out that whilst the first 50 levels of BDO do thankfully pass quick, when it comes to 50+ the grind suddenly “hits a wall” before hitting another when reaching level 56. This could potentially hinder the entire experience for some, leaving only those who are dedicated and determined to ultimately reach the end game.

There’s no taking away the fun aspect from Black Desert Online, but grinding, as it does with others in the same genre, is not always taken into account by developers when making a game as something that can feel more like a chore. The only suggestion that can really be made is that they could find a way to make it more fun to level up, or at least making it quicker once hitting level 50.
