When an MMORPG has changes done to it, it can send a ripple effect that changes many aspects of the game. Sometimes this comes in the form of new content, or an expansion, or something as simple as trying to balance out the servers of the game so they’re fair for everyone. Either way, it’s important to keep players in the loop on things, and that’s exactly what Final Fantasy XIV has done. For recently they have done things to their servers, and things have changed because of it.
Square Enix implemented some “World population balancing incentives” recently, and because of that, many players transferred to other Worlds, and some created new characters on different Worlds. What this did though was shake up the list of “Preferred” and “Congested” worlds. So, the team decided to make a list of what changed, and what world is which now.
For the North American side of things, the Preferred Worlds are: Coeurl, Diabolos, Exodus, Goblin, Lamia and Zalera. And, the Standard Worlds are now: Adamantoise, Brynhildr, Famfrit, Jenova, Malboro, Midgardsormr, and Siren.
Furthermore, when patch 4.1.5 goes live, the players who create or transfer new characters will continue to receive the bonuses of that world for 90 days. They will also continue to monitor the situation to ensure that things are not just balanced, but fair for all.
But wait, there’s more fun to be had. Emphasis on “fun”. For very soon, one of the heads of Final Fantasy XIV is going to be celebrating a birthday. Naoki Yoshida, who literally helped make the game what it is, is going to be celebrating his 44th birthday, and fans want you to help them honor him by making some special messages for his birthday.
You can do a video message, or a text message, as long as you wish him a happy birthday and state what the game means to you. You can get full details here on the event. Don’t miss out on the chance to wish him a happy birthday!
