The Square Enix developed MMORPG known as Final Fantasy 14 may be coming to Xbox One. The game has already been made available on both PS3 and PS4 in addition to PC, but it appears now Square Enix is in talks to expand their user base to the Microsoft-made home console.
Apparently, in an interview with Polygon, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida told them that Microsoft approached the team about a cross-platform opportunity. With this expansion is going to come some compromise from the team at Microsoft, as some of their current regulations aren’t complimentary to this style of game. The staff of Final Fantasy 14 has been trying to communicate effectively which features would be waived before this could be made possible.
Final Fantasy 14 boasts an incredibly in depth party-based quest and combat system that is bound to keep players entertained for a long time. It’s no wonder they’re trying to capitalize on such a large yet untapped market in Xbox One, especially with the announcement of the two new models. Project Scorpio may have what it takes technologically to push Final Fantasy 14 to the next level, especially if launch timing is fortuitous.
If Final Fantasy 14 truly does come to Xbox One, talks have arisen about its continued longevity on the PS3. Yoshida has made it clear that the game will continue to be supported through the 3.x series of patches, and that more information will be given as time goes on. It looks as though that version of the game is safe for now. Only time will tell if this game will truly see launch on the Xbox One, but one thing is for certain. If it does, its user-base will only expand even more. More updates on the Xbox One port of this game as the news becomes available.
