Sports games are a key part of the video game world, as they allow us to be on the court, on the field, on the pitch, and take control of some of the biggest stars in the sports world today. These games have transcended to a place where they always sell and always have a fanbase waiting for them. For the Soccer crowd, there is only one sports video game they care about, and that’s FIFA. And now, EA has released the first ever trailer for FIFA 18, which they dub as “fueled by Ronaldo,” the cover athlete for this years game.

Ronaldo of course is one of, if not the, biggest name in the game right now, so it’s not surprising that FIFA 18 chose him as the cover star, and it’s a good indication of what players can expect not just gameplay wise, but visually. As you’ll see in the trailer below, the game has never looked more realistic, and the Frostbyte Engine seems to be working overtime in order to nail every detail and make it shine.

When they say “fueled by Ronaldo” they honestly mean it. You see, the team behind the game actually got Ronaldo to go into one of their motion capture studios to record his movements and convert them into data. Now, when you play as him, you’re actually going to be seeing his actual movements and responses to how a situation developers on the game field. Furthermore, the team used Ronaldo as a baseplate for how other players in the game (who couldn’t do the motion capture) would react. Thus, you’re going to have a more fluid, more realistic, and more reactive team and opponents in every single game.

FIFA 18 will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 29th.
