Every developer wants players to enjoy their game for a long time. For MMORPGs though, the desire goes to a whole new level. For them, having a long life means that players are constantly on their game, enjoying the content, battling against the world and each other and so on and so forth. For EVE Online, they have just celebrated a massive milestone. On May 6th, 2003, they opened their universe, and 14 years later, they’re still here, watching as players continue to enjoy their space odyssey game.

The team fondly looks back at the last 14 years and is happy to know that it has been the players that have driven the game forward in many aspects, including helping define the story. In EVE Online, it truly is the player that drives the story, and helps shape the universe, and they’re glad that still holds true to this day.

They also note that it’s hard to believe it’s already been 14 years, but are already looking forward to the 15th anniversary of the game, and promise that there is so much more to come.

As for celebration, the team wants to reward those who are playing EVE Online, pure and simple. So, if you log in before May 23rd you’ll get a Capsule YC119 Capsuleer Day SKIN, a Festival Launcher, 200 Barium Fireworks, 200 Copper Fireworks and a 200 Sodium Fireworks. What better way is there to celebrate than shooting off some fireworks?

The team also mentioned their heartfelt that you to all the players that have kept EVE Online alive and thriving over the years:

“Your unswaying dedication and loyalty to the EVE Universe, and your continued support of the sprawling cosmos we’ve continued to build together over the last fourteen years inspires us more than ever to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can do together!”
