The Elder Scrolls Online has been in the news quite a bit recently, only just announcing their Imperial City Anniversary Event, and now releasing a preview for the upcoming Clockwork City DLC and new game update. The MMO counterpart to the single-player Elder Scrolls series, the Elder Scrolls Online takes players to both completely new and familiar locations around Tamriel. The Clockwork City DLC will allow players to explore a large chunk of Sotha Sil’s masterwork.
For those who aren’t necessarily Elder Scrolls lore buffs, you may not know that Sotha Sil is one of three “Living Gods” that make up the religion of the majority of those that inhabit Morrowind. Sotha Sil’s claim to fame is the Clockwork City – a massive complex built so small that one might crush it with their feet if they aren’t shrunk down to fit inside. The Clockwork City DLC makes this amazing feat of construction a playable zone equipped with its own quests, monsters, Delves, set items, motifs, collectibles, and a brand new Trial to play through with friends.
The new trial, called the Asylum Sanctorium, is said to put your team of 12 players up against “three mechanical bosses and promises to reward you with powerful Asylum Weapons.” Players can choose whether to defeat these bosses one at a time, or rush to the end and fight all three simultaneously.
Additionally, the implementation of the Clockwork City DLC will also bring about a massive main-game update for all players. The update will provide a number of bugs fixes and performance improvements, but more importantly, there will be new content! Update 16 will bring the Transmutation system, which will let players change the traits on their gear. Not only this, but a new Trait Tracker system will also be implemented which will tell players whether they have researched a unique trait on an item or not.
Perhaps the most exciting change coming with Update 16 is the addition of a new Battleground mode for players who own the Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. The mode is called “Crazy King” and the object is to secure a capture point which jumps randomly from to place to place on the map.
For a full breakdown of everything coming to the Elder Scrolls Online in the Clockwork City DLC and Update 16, make sure to check out the post on their website. Remember that in order to take advantage of the Clockwork City DLC, you must own the Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind. Update 16, however, will be available to all players for free. While there is no release date for the DLC and update at this moment, we will keep you posted here on MMOexaminer.
