With E3 just days away, we here at MMOEX are looking forward to a lot of games from a slew of publishers and developers, so, we’re going to do some small previews about games we know we’re going to see there, as well as what we would like to see from them over the course of the convention. In this preview, we talk about the bombshell that was dropped at last years E3, the Spider-Man title that’s coming from Insomniac Games.

What made the Spider-Man game a big surprise last year was that we had no notice of this before E3 2016, let alone that it was being made by Insomniac. If that name doesn’t resonate with you, they’re the team behind Spyro (the original Spyro games), Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Sunset Overdrive, and more. Needless to say, they do quality work. And the reveal trailer for the game definitively proves it.

Now, there’s a lot of questions going forward about this. The trailer, and subsequent materials, prove that this is going to be an open-world Spider-Man game, but how big are we talking? There have been open-world Spider-Man games in the past, but those were on older systems. This is a modern take, and open-world could mean all of New York if Insomniac wanted.

Also, we hope that the trailer that will no doubt be shown at E3 2017 will show off some villains that we can expect to fight. Not only that, we want to see more of the visual style. The suit Spidey is wearing is a more-or-less new take on the classic outfit, and we’d like to see what they do to classic villains in Spider-Man’s Rogues Gallery.

Finally, we want to see more action from the game. The trailer did a good job of highlighting some things, but there’s still a lot we don’t know. We hope that by the time E3 ends, we not only have a release date, but more information on what we can expect.
