The Collectible Card Game Duelyst has always aimed to be something special. In fact, when it launched on Steam over a year ago, it started out with 400+ cards scattered across six factions that you could choose from. But since that launch, the team behind the game have been slowly growing it. Adding new cards, new factions, new ways to play, and through all of that, an impressive amount of cards was made for the players. This amount has now prompted the team to look at the game in a new way.
So, how big is it now? Well, the recent release of the Immortal Vanguard, Duelyst now has over 800 cards. That’s a lot to comprehend in many ways, and because of that, the team is going to be doing some maintenance on the game to ensure that the overall experience is fun for all.
For example, they’re going to be merging the expansions Rise of the Bloodbound and Ancient Bonds into one expansion called Bloodbound Ancients.
Another big change that’ll come is that there will be “set rotation”. This will rotate the number of cards available for players to get. Though to be clear, any cards you currently have are always going to be able to be used in gameplay. The hope for this is that players will feel the gameplay remaining fresh and interesting as available cards shift, and with them, strategies.
What’s more, this will help new players from being overwhelmed by the 800+ cards that are in the game. As they’ll only have access to some of them at any given point. This rotation will begin in 2018 at some point.
There are many other changes coming to the game to help make it better. Including the removal of tribes like the Warmasters. Consult the guide of what’s to come to get the full picture.
