The Dragon Ball franchise has had a lot of games in the past, and many of them have been in the fighting game genre. But the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ is in a league of its own. The battles are in pure 2D, and the visual style is very reminiscent of the anime itself. Since its reveal, players have been itching for more announcements about who’s in the game, and what they can do.

Well, in the latest issue of V-Jump (found out by Gematsu), two fan-favorite characters are getting their chance to battle in Dragon Ball FighterZ – Krillin and Piccolo. Yep, these two are classic of the series, and have been some of the longest running characters in the franchise, as they both appeared in the original Dragon Ball series. Since then, their legends and powers have grown, and have been featured many times in many different ways over the years.

Piccolo was once the enemy of Goku, but soon became a lifelong ally, even helping raise his son Gohan after sacrificing himself to beat Raditz. Piccolo is a fierce Namekian warrior, and it shows here. He has good strength, and the ability to extend his arms to grab and attack his foes. Plus, he has a variety of attacks that will break the opponents guard. He also has some power charged up attacks, as well as good combos.

Krillin was once Goku’s rival, as they trained under Master Roshi, but soon enough they were best friends. Krillin gets a bad rep in the anime as he’s often seen dying a lot (and he does to be fair) but he’s not one to be messed with when it comes down to it. In the game, his height does hurt his reach, and he’s not as powerful as characters like Piccolo. But he makes up for it in his range of attacks. He can use his classic Destructo Disc, which is unblockable, and he can fire beam attacks and guide where they go too. So don’t think this guy can’t kick your butt.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be out in 2018.
