With Overwatch having so many characters, it’s natural that not all of them are balanced. Blizzard does its best to try and smooth out any balancing issues, but at times, it’s not enough. So, it’s up to the fans to make suggestions on what Blizzard should do. The topic of today’s discussion? Winston.
In case you didn’t know, Winston is a genetically altered gorilla, who first lived on the moon via a human colony. He was a test subject in gene altering to test how long one could live in space habitation. However, Winston proved to be much more enhanced than his fellow gorillas, and was taken under the wing of a scientist, and taught science and engineering. When things went wrong on the colony, Winston build a spaceship and escaped the moon, headed for Earth, and soon joined Overwatch.
Now, in the game, Winston is known to be a decent character, but as many Battle.net users will attest to, he does have some flaws that could use fixing. Many agree that his biggest problem is his shield. It’s too weak, and thus can get defeated easily, leaving Winston an open target. Currently, it sits at 600, many suggest a boost to 1000 to make it not only better, but more fair to those who main as Winston.
The other problem with his shield is the cooldown. It has a 13 second cooldown, but, that doesn’t start until 5 seconds after the shield is gone. Making it 18 seconds until the shield is back on. For players? That’s way too long. Another small suggestions is increasing his clip size, which many think is a bit too small currently.
There is another patch coming, and Winston may get some tweaks in it according to some Battle.net users. We’ll just have to wait and see where the great gorilla gets even greater.
