Season 11 of Diablo III kicked off back on July 20th, and with it running for three months, it is looking to finish on October 20th. Between seasons, there is usually a two-week break before the next one begins. However, this would mean that season 12 will fall on November 3rd, the same weekend as this year’s Blizzcon event.
Since the developers won’t be on-hand to oversee the beginning of the new season, there has been a lot of speculation as to when the next season will get underway. With the release of patch 2.6.1 also expected soon, it boils down to how long Blizzard want to leave it between the two. Patches do tend to be implemented in between seasons, so it is likely that we will see this in the next few weeks.
Given that it is unlikely Blizzard will want to wait too long, and leave the patch and new season until after Blizzcon, an educated guess would be the week before. As for the date, which has also been guessed at by support staff on the forums, would be Thursday, October 26th. They could leave it until after Blizzcon, seeing as it could give them the opportunity to go over what is coming at the actual event, though as stated it’s hardly likely they will leave it this long.
By starting on this date, it would give Blizzard a week until they are all hands on deck with showcasing what other franchises have coming. Community manager Nevalistis has left us hanging either way by stating:
“Hmm. Interesting predictions. You’ll know soon™ enough. ;)”
