Given the impending arrival of Destiny 2, more and more ideas are coming in each day on how changes could be made from the original game, an understandable trait that spans across the gaming industry. One instance in particular that plays on certain players’ minds is a killcam, which is a common inclusion for many games featuring PvP aspects.
Which leads onto an interesting point raised on Reddit earlier by LordSlickRick, who details the many positive features that Destiny already possesses, and whether a killcam is needed at all. As the post mentions, upon dying in Destiny you are informed in the top right of the screen after death, and those who brought you to this premature ending are highlighted in red.
As rightfully indicated, the post points out:
I also can imagine the salt going up when there is lag and having people post videos of the killcam and their cam not matching up. Its just rage inducing and serves no purpose.
Let’s face it, none of us enjoy the killcam in particular. It might help us spot where we went wrong, but as indicated above, it more often than that serves to frustrate players, albeit unintentionally. This goes for not just the likes of Call of Duty or Overwatch, but being forced to watch replays on the likes of FIFA 17 or Rocket League. Ultimately, if there is away to avoid introducing killcams and still have an effective method for what it is attempting to achieve, then perhaps that is the best way going forward.
