Destiny 2 – Key Features We Know So Far

For the eager Destiny 2 fans out there, here’s a quick rundown on everything key that we know about the highly anticipated sequel so far. If we’ve missed anything, feel free to share with us in the comments section below.

As for the game itself, Destiny 2 will release on September 8th, 2017, and will be available on PS4 and Xbox One. For the first time, a Destiny game will release on PC, which will be released at a later date. On the subject of PC, the game will be designed especially for the platform, running with an uncapped framerate as opposed to a simple port. Xbox One and PS4 versions meanwhile will be capped at 30 FPS, with the Xbox Scorpio specifications to be determined.

The story meanwhile will see more cutscenes than the previous game, taking place on locations such as Earth, Nessus Io and Titan. A tutorial mission will be held before the first Homecoming mission, and we will see the likes of Cabal, Vex, SIVA Fallen and Hive. A social space has also been revealed known as the Farm, though more may be confirmed in the near future.

Destiny 2’s gameplay will operate in a similar fashion to the first game, with the gunplay and UI to remain the same bar a few alterations. Each class has its own class ability, complete with different upgrades, ones which will heal, inflict bonus damage and more. The subclasses Gunslinger, Nightstalker, Voidwalker, Stormcaller, Striker and Bladedancer will all be subject to improvements, but will work mainly as they did in Destiny 1. The subclasses Sunsinger, Defender and Bladedancer have been replaced, which paves the way for Dawnblade, Sentinel and Arcstrider.

With new and improved UI, the Crucible will feature plentiful advancements. Destiny 2 will now call out when a power pack is picked up, by who and when, as well as stating when a super is being used. Apart from that, other than Kinetic and Energy weapons taking a few more shots to kill, there hasn’t been many other changes as far as Crucible is concerned.
