A brand new top-down adventure game is coming to PS4 (via the PlayStation Network) and Steam this July. It’s called Defenders of Ekrom, and it’s meant to not only be a callback to old-school shoot’em up games, but also bring something new and fresh to the table that gamers will get excited about. This game comes from Virto games, who are making their console debut with Defenders of Ekrom, and they’re excited for players to get their hands on it.
In the game, you’ll play as Eneas, who is close to becoming the pilot of an Anakim, which is a mech of incredible power. However, during his final exam something goes wrong, and because of what happens he has to join a group of pilots that have the sole mission of battling a group called The Renegades, who are out to destroy the world. Along the way though, the secrets of who he is working for is going to be revealed, and it shows that not everything is as it seems.
Defenders of Ekrom is aiming to do something a little different. For example, the game boasts the ability to go in all 360 degrees at any point in time. All 10 levels of the game are completely fleshed out so that there are no limits as to where you can go. Plus, though there is plenty of shoot’em up, there’s also melee combat, Including wielding a sword, using pyromancy, and much more. All of this is set to an intense soundtrack made specifically for the game. Defenders of Ekrom comes to Steam and PS4 on July 11th.
