Ever since the initial release of Dead by Daylight, there has been a sort of tug-of-war between those who play as Survivors and the others opting for Killers. Many players on either side consider the asymmetrical horror game to be unbalanced, and favoring the opposite side in a number of instances.
The prospect of having an imbalanced game is rather daunting, especially if you’re a fan of Dead by Daylight, as it could very easily lead to the community becoming toxic. From what we’ve seen so far, it could be likened to pulling two arguing children apart, with one saying “they won’t stop face camping!” and the other saying “they started it with pallet looping!”
I could initially see the argument as to why Killers might’ve felt harshly done by, though the game seems a lot more balanced now thanks to the introduction of a number of changes made by the developers. With certain nerfs being implemented, the Bloodlust mechanic and Hook regeneration among other alterations, there seems to be a lot more balance than there was before.
The fact that they had to introduce certain changes does kind of tip the scale in favor of Survivors at one point. The need to remove certain locations that made it impossible for Killers to catch Survivors, as well as having to speed Killers up to soften the effects of pallet looping just goes to show that there was a lack of balance at one point.
It seems as if Dead by Daylight is in a good place at the moment, at the very least compared to where it was. I don’t see the tussle between Survivor and Killer mains over who has it fair ending anytime soon, but hopefully the devs can continue the hard work they have done already, lest this becomes another toxic environment for us to play in.
