Dark and Light is getting a rather small patch today, which is coming with some bug fixes, as well as some pretty important changes to the decay system, and a couple of balance tweaks for the Ice Cave and controllable workbenches. We will be going over these changes and some of the bug fixes down below, and also make sure that you’re logged off before 1:00 AM, as that’s when the patch goes live.
The developers of Dark and Light really work hard to release patches for their game as often as possible, which is great seeing as the game is in Early Access, so it’s going to have a lot of bugs. Today’s patch addresses a lot of things, so let’s start things off with the Decay Timer.
Ever since the decay timers were added to the game, the developers received a lot of player feedback. If you didn’t know, this system was actually put in the game so that players couldn’t exploit and abuse structures in any way, but the other reason was to help decrease the map load on servers that have a lot of huge structures that weren’t used by anyone. The decay timers were updated, and the following changes were made: Straw (Decays after 3 days), Wood (Decays after 4 days), Stone (Decays after 6 days), Metal (Decays after 7 days), and Manor-tier (Decays after 14 days). All of these times are in real time.
The new system that was implemented in order to stop things like pillaring and trapping gives the player the ability to manually demolish any structure that hasn’t been visited by its owner for 72 hours.
Changes were also made to Dark and Light’s neutral workbenches and the amount of time that a faction can maintain control over them. The Cyclops Workbench will revert to a neutral state 6 hours after it gets captured, Bytorg’s Toolbox will revert to its neutral state 1 hour after it gets captured, and all controlled workbenches are going to show how much time is left before they convert to their neutral state.
As far as the balance changes go, there were some changes made to some creatures in the Ice Cave. Ice Goblins have their base health reduced from 540 to 360, and their base attack damage has also been decreased, Bytorg’s melee attack damage got toned down, but his ranged attack damage got a slight buff, and the crafting time for Skullcracker got changed from 900 seconds to 300 seconds.
As far as the bug fixes go, you can read the full Dark and Light patch notes on the official Steam post, but we will mention some of them here.
Players will now be able to activate any and all Dark Altairs, the Werewolf and Bear Transformation Runes are now usable at all times, you will be able to gather from your character’s body after reviving at all times, and you should no longer encounter any problems when opening Wooden Windows.
