Thomas “Blixtev” Blair has taken to the official Crowfall site to discuss and summarize the Vessel system, which has just gone live. As well as answering a few burning questions, Blair also outlines what the new system brings.
“Thomas “Blixtev” Blair here, and I’m going to chat with you today about the various ins and outs of the Vessel system that just went live in Crowfall. This system is so intertwined with the character death and respawn loop (something that happens a whole lot in Crowfall) that I thought it would be a great topic for an update.”
First off, the new Crow form is introduced, which is the base level character with all skill training applied, which in turn makes it usable across all avatars. Each player will have one crow form per account, where it will be able to enter multiple worlds and possess a body.
Vessel meanwhile is the term for said possessed bodies. By entering a vessel, players’ souls are able to maneuver around the world and be visible to other players and the physical world. These vessels will have their own classes known as Archetypes, including Knight, Confessor and Legionnaire.
A vessel that is embodied by a Crow is referred to as an Avatar. The avatar represents the player as the move through the world. At times, players will experience spirit crows also, though this only usually occurs when an avatar has died or when a player hasn’t found a vessel to inhabit yet. Each vessel’s archetype determines the powers that are available to it, including level caps on various skills.
