The story of Bayonetta as a game is a fascinating one. It was developed by PlatinumGames and published by SEGA for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Although it sold over a million copies, it wasn’t picked up for a sequel until Nintendo curated the project. Now, the series is in limbo again. But those who still haven’t played the game now have a new option: Steam.
Steam is now another home for the Umbra Witch, where the first game costs only $20. This was the “reveal” that SEGA and Platinum have been teasing since the beginning of the month. And although fans were hoping for Bayonetta 3, it’s not too bad of a thing for this to be the reveal. After all, if there’s interest on it from the PC community, it could be another avenue to get another Bayonetta game, which could lead to the sequel coming to PC as well. You never know.
If you don’t know Bayonetta, let’s boil it down for you. This is an over-the-top action game featuring a witch who fights the angels of Paradiso to ensure she doesn’t get taken to the realm of Inferno. That is her life, though it’s not all of it, for she can’t remember who she truly is. Not until some interesting characters from her past come along and force her to take action to stop the end of the world.
As is PlatinumGames’ tradition, Bayonetta is 100% action and she doesn’t mess around. She has guns, whips, scythes, and a plethora of other weapons that you can buy and wield to take down all enemies that get in your way. And the better the “score” you get in the levels, the better trophy you get at the end.
If you’ve been wanting to play this series for a while, or you just want something fun and high-octane to play, Bayonetta is for you.
