Could Overwatch Come To Nintendo Switch?

We are days away from the Nintendo Switch reveal. The true reveal, where all specs, tools, accessories, and yes, the games, will be revealed. With it just days away, more and more fans are speculating what’s coming, and what could be coming. The game of discussion today? Overwatch.

An interesting topic appeared on the official Overwatch forums today, and it does make sense. Now, it may seem odd that a title like Overwatch would come to the Switch, after all, the game is made by Blizzard, who has never had a game on Nintendo systems, like ever. However, a lot of 3rd party support has come out for the Switch, and thus, it is possible. Now, for those thinking “it’s a dedicated online game, Nintendo doesn’t do that!”, you’d be wrong. Remember, they had Splatoon, which was their own online multiplayer focused game that had up to 8 players going on a level at once.

Now yes, Overwatch is a bit different than Splatoon, but the core principals are the same. Furthermore, if the specs that have been teased for the Switch are true, then it should have enough power to run the game, and run it effectively. Plus, with its mobility, it could make Overwatch all the more enjoyable, as you’ll be able to play right next to your friends, as well as play it on the train, plane, car, or whatever you’re on that isn’t near your dedicated console or PC.

As for the players themselves, the Overwatch community is a bit split on the potential for the game to come to Switch. On one hand, some think it would be fun, others however are concerned that the Switch couldn’t handle it, and thus shouldn’t be on it. What do you think? Should Overwatch be ported to the Nintendo Switch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

But if you don’t like Nintendo, you’re going down! lol

  1. heck yeah it should! if they port it to the switch then that would mean you can play online for free because nintendo dosnt make you pay to play online… thus a big boost in sales for overwatch because you do not need to pay every other month just to play online, so people will buy the nintendo switch version so they can play online for free.

  2. I saw the presentation and the control movement. It would be cool to have different ways to use the controls depending of the hero. And the possibilities of playing with friends outside linking their consoles!
