Patch 1.05 of the JRPG FINAL FANTASY XV brought additions and changes. On top of that, it caused a glitch few players expected.
Officially released on November 29, FINAL FANTASY XV failed to impress the general public but has managed to please fans, keeping them entertained for longer than usual. While there have been complaints regarding the poor storytelling and the repetitive missions, Square Enix has been supporting the game consistently with free content additions and changes to the base game that further enhance the experience.
Concluding the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, patch 1.05 also introduced new limited quests, a portable music player that can be used whilst riding a chocobo, an increase in how many photos players can store (up to 200), and a higher level cap (120). One detail few were expecting is the loot found in Pitioss Ruins (the game’s most challenging dungeon) becoming available once again for those who have already cleared it.
Reddit users xybur made a PSA post on FINAL FANTASY XV‘s subreddit confirming that a great portion of the treasure found in Pitioss had respawned with the coming of patch 1.05. “Every single piece of loot was right on the ground as if it hadn’t been picked up.” xybur says as he describes going into the dungeon in the same file he used to solve it prior to patch 1.05. To help prove their point, they recorded a video depicting this second run through Pitioss, with timestamps for specific items in case viewers would like to see those being picked up.
There have been suspicions regarding the authenticity of duplicate items since patch 1.05 was released on February 20. Rumors and screenshots were roaming forums, but many doubted them to be true. Now that players are going back to the challenging dungeon, they are confirming that the update reset the loot found within the ruins.
There’s no confirmation of whether or not this glitch affects everyone who has finished Pitioss before the patch was released. As noted by Benzonia, “seems like a very small minority would be affected by this [glitch].” Hiibird shared their own experience with the occurrence, stating that Oracle Coins haven’t spawned for them while other items (weapons, treasures, healing items) were present during the second visit.
FINAL FANTASY XV is a JRPG available for PlayStation 4 and XBox One.
