Certain Overwatch Players Ranking Up To Throw Matches

Video gamers are a community, even if they don’t realize it at first. They play games to do well, or to beat them, sure, but there’s a lot of people who do the same, and often they interact. Through the growth of this community came unspoken rules and codes that help make the community better and stronger. But when someone breaks those rules, and does it to hurt the community, that community will rise up to oust them, and that’s what the Overwatch community is trying to do right now.

There’s a lot of cheating going on in Overwatch, and it takes many forms. But one of the most popular ways is to throw matches intentionally. And according to Reddit user destinypainter, he found one such player on the PS4 version of the game. He wants Blizzard to take care of him, and he’s not alone. What’s worse, he does this for streams, and people watch him do it, yet no one has banned him yet. He wants to change that:

“I’ve video proof, twitch channel, profile screenshot. Is there a way to report this to Playstation or Blizzard to get this account banned?”

Overwatch Route 66 Ana Escort Match

Sadly, there isn’t a reporting function on the PS4 or Xbox One just yet, but that hasn’t stopped the community from boosting this post to high levels to make sure someone sees it. In fact, despite it only being posted 18+ hours ago, the post has over 20k+ upvotes. That’s staggering.

What’s also staggering is the amount of comments on this piece. And several point to the PS4 being the true problem here, as you can’t help but be paired up with these kinds of people and you can’t report them. Others feel that Overwatch is becoming a playground for cheaters, which of course hurts those that don’t cheat. While others still just hate how toxic the community is becoming as a whole. And seeing and hearing something like this, it’s not hard to blame them.
