The recent reveal of the Xbox Scorpio has Xbox fans abuzz about what games they will be experiencing on what is being touted as the most powerful console ever. Whilst many fans are looking to past games such as Sunset Overdrive, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, ReCore and others to check out on the vastly improved system, it would be hard to ignore the upcoming console exclusives that will be coming in the future, one of them being Crackdown 3.
The latest entry in the Crackdown series has been somewhat elusive, having been announced some time ago. Once initial rumblings of the Xbox Scorpio started to surface, many assumed that Crackdown 3 would save itself for release on the vastly superior system. Perhaps a source of frustration for some, news has been sketchy as to when we would actually see Crackdown 3 hit the shelves.
These worries have been alleviated to an extent, when the Crackdown team tweeted:
2017 is shaping up to be great! #Crackdown3 info is on the horizon, and we’re ready to bring the boom!
It will be a relief for many to hear that there is news on the horizon regarding the game at last, and could potentially provide a platform that would truly showcase what the Scorpio is capable of.
In case you missed it, the Xbox Scorpio specifications are as follows:
- CPU – Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz
- GPU – 40 customised compute units at 1172MHz
- Memory – 12GB GDDR5
- Memory Bandwidth – 326GB/s
- Hard Drive – 1TB 2.5-inch
- Optical Drive – 4K UHD Blu-ray
In an attempt to develop the game’s campaign, Crackdown 3 was subject to a delay. Despite this, fans will be pleased to hear the extent of how vast the sequel will be when it releases. In a quote from the General Manager at Microsoft Studios, the next game will build upon the large scale foundations set by the previous games:
Well, if you remember how great the original Crackdowns were, with the big open cities, and as you leveled up, your cars and weapons leveled up, imagine all that time 10.
With that source of information coupled with the demonstrative scale of Crackdown 3, it is more than likely to thrive when it finally releases, especially on a platform such as the Xbox Scorpio.
