Imperia Online is a browser-based/mobile resource management game. These types of games have become increasingly popular over the last few years. How does Imperia Online measure up to this growing genre?
It’s fun! The resource management is very thorough. Whether you’re determining how many units to send on a battle, or what you want your empire to research, this game gives you unwavering control.
From the moment you start playing the game, you’ll find yourself in a thirty-three quest tutorial. That may seem overwhelming at first, but for a game like Imperia Online you need tutorials to be thorough. A lot of the resource management requires you to be very attentive. With so many numeric variables, it makes sense that the game wants you to be familiar with all of its key features.
Imperia Online operates on a very passive system, similar to most resource management/building games. As you upgrade buildings and services in your empire, you’re likely to find yourself waiting. This can be supplemented with diamonds, which the game provides you a decent sum of in the tutorial.
One particular aspect of this game that I found very riveting was the beautiful aesthetic. With an art direction that really lets your work shine, this map has some of the most appealing visuals I’ve seen in a game of this variety.
One aspect of Imperia Online that is unique for this style of game is the detailed in-depth profile options. You can fill in information from your name, to your relationship status, to your interests, and even your zodiac sign. I was a little disappointed to see that blood type wasn’t an option. Still, the social networking aspect of this game is very unique and interesting.
You can even link your account directly to your Facebook, like I did.
Battles are very in-depth as well. You have various types of units, from archers to swordsmen. The only way to acquire these units is through researching their individual crafts. Once you acquire them you can send them out to the battlefield at your leisure.
Allocation of people is another rather large aspect of Imperia Online. You can determine who works as well as who sits idly by.
As you go on to challenge other cities, numerous statistics are taken into account. The amount of research you’ve done, and the amount of varying units measure up to a morale stat. This morale influences the outcome of battle as well as what perks you receive.
Finally, the last major feature that I found interesting was the “Emperor and Great People” side of the game. Your emperor has a lineage, of kids and grand-kids who can also attain interesting skills, that will influence the tide of battle.
Imperia Online is an interesting resource management and allocation game, and it offers a fresh take on the genre. While some may find the sheer amount of statistics slightly overwhelming, it’s a game that you can play at your own pace, so try it out and enjoy. Play Imperia Online right here!
