The Best RPGs On The Nintendo Switch Right Now

Nintendo is set for quite a holiday season, especially for its new console the Nintendo Switch, and it all starts this Friday with the release of Fire Emblem Warriors. For RPG fans, that game (which is a mix of RPG and hack-n-slash elements) is just the start of a trio of epic RPGs coming to the console. In November, Skyrim comes to Nintendo Switch, and in December, Xenoblade Chronicles 2. But, if you’re looking for some RPGs to play right now on the Switch? Fear not! There’s plenty to pick from.

Let’s start with a not-so-obvious one, Breath of the Wild. Yes, this is a game you should get regardless of genre, but BOTW really delves deeper into the RPG elements of the franchise than any of its previous titles have done. The open world gives an RPG feel. The fact you have to collect AND discard items from a limited inventory is very RPG like. And even attacking enemies with precision feels very RPG like. This game is a serious GOTY contender, so don’t miss out on getting it.

If you’re looking for more of an oddball pick, then Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is for you. This game mixes Mario, Rabbids, and XCOM for a turn-based strategy game that is not only challenging but hilarious and very fulfilling. You’ll love going through this hybrid Mario/Rabbids world, seeing all the references to our world and theirs, laughing at the jokes, and of course, defeating hundreds of Rabbids.

For you anime style RPG fans out there, why not try out Disgaea 5: Complete Edition? This game takes the most recent entry and brings all the DLC additions for you to enjoy for free. This is a true JRPG and not one to be missed.

Finally, for a short but anticipating experience, get the Project Octopath Demo. Yes, it’s a demo, but it’s a very well made and challenging one, and it will show you just how amazing this game will likely be when it gets released next year.

But if you don’t like Nintendo, you’re going down! lol
