A video game can sometimes be a long time coming, but the payoff can be worth it if done right. For a while now, Ashes of Creation has been teasing “the rebirth of the MMORPG” with its arrival, and it’s been promising some pretty big things. All of these teases have been leading up to a Kickstarter campaign that would help fund and complete the game and get it to players. Well, the time has come, the Kickstarter has launched, and it’s already doing amazing.

So, if you are new to this game, or are hearing about it for the first time, here are some of the things the Ashes of Creation game is promising. First off, while it may start off like a standard MMORPG with you creating your character, choosing your class, etc., it doesn’t stay standard. Once you’re in the game, you’re on your own with what you want to do.

Want to help build a city? Do it. Want to join a warring faction? Do it. Want to grow a garden? Do it! Ashes of Creation is a game where the whole world is built by players, and it’s the players, not the devs, who make the changes in the world.

For example, if two groups of players have cities that are getting really close to one another, it’s up to them to decide what to do. Do they go to war and see who wins? Or do they do diplomacy and figure out a solution? It’s up to them.

But also, the world itself will change and evolve like a natural world. With seasons, natural events, and more that can change how everyone interacts in it.

There is a LOT of freedom in Ashes of Creation, from who you are, to what you do, to what you can do and much more. For those who want an MMORPG that truly feels like it’s getting impacted by you the player, this is one title you’ll want to support.
