Ashes of Creation is a unique MMO where players will have to work hard to create things. And by “things” we mean towns, cities, and basically a whole civilization. The game itself will react to what players are building, and maintaining, or failing to maintain, as well as quests, activities, battles, and more will result from what they do. This makes the game an ever-shifting place where the players are truly impacting what’s going on. To that end, the team is doing its best to explain everything you can do in the game, including what peaks you can reach in your civilization.
In what the team is calling the “Node Series”, they detail how far and how high you can make your civilizations grow, as well as how far they can fall. The “Node System’ is what you use to help build and grow your villages, and as you advance through the nodes, you’ll get to do more and more with your village, city, etc. As your city grows, so do the lifestyle of the players who inhabit it. The biggest achievement however, is the Metropolis node.
This sees the player’s character houses becoming mansions, and your cities will evolve greatly with it. But in a twist, the kind of city you create will vary in the Metropolis stage depending on what Node you made with the city. There are four nodes that the city can become: Scientific, Economic, Militaristic, and Divine. Each one brings a different view of the city, and if you reach the Metropolis node, they’ll look and act very different from one another, as well as act different and offer unique bonuses.
The other fun thing about Ashes of Creation is that any and every city/node can be destroyed. However, in the case of a Metropolis, it’s going to be a little harder to take down. So, if you’re looking to just lay waste to everything you see, you might want to do it before players get their nodes to that state.
The game will be launching a Kickstarter on May 1st to secure funding for true production.
