Ashes of Creation is a massive MMORPG that is currently in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. In fact, it’s already at 247% raised, meaning it will get made once the campaign is over. The crux of the game is that you are in a world that players help build, and by inhabiting it, guide its progress and development. With so many functions and systems in the game, it’s natural that players have a lot of questions. So, the dev team decided to do a Q&A live via Discord.
For example, crafting is a major part of Ashes of Creation, and one player wondered whether someone who is focused on crafting will be able to “keep up” with those who are focused on character progression. They answered by noting that these two skills are separate, and support different things:
“Will you experience some crossover between progressing in adventuring and artisan classes? Yes. But primarily, systems advance once class or another.”
Another person asked about the ecosystems in Ashes of Creation. The game is billed as having a dynamic world, and they are curious as to how it is that. The answer was that certain ecosystems are tied to certain zones, and that causes them to be dynamic. These nodes will react to both time and events to changes things. Of course, players are also a part of the ecosystem, and thus can change the environment too.
There were some weird questions, such as one person asking if you can cause forest fires in the game. To which they responded:
“Being that I’m from San Diego and fires are serious, I’d prefer to not include them in the game”
You can listen to the entire Q&A above, and don’t forget to check out the Kickstarter if this seems like your kind of game.
