When Nintendo first announced ARMS at the Nintendo Switch reveal event, players weren’t sure what to make of it. But then, Nintendo really started to show it off, and not only was the game revealed to be perfectly Nintendo in style and execution, it once again showed that even the most familiar of genres can have a twist. In the style of Splatoon, Nintendo has been doing demo sessions for people to play ARMS for free, the second weekend of which is on right now.
Dubbed “ARMS Global TestPunch,” these one-hour session demos allow players to play the game for free and give it a good test run. Now, the TestPunch does have some restrictions in place. For example, you’re only able to do Party Match, which puts you in a room with many other players and randomly puts you into matchups such as 1v1, 2v2, V-Ball/Skillshot/Hoops, and so on. Also, the roster isn’t fully playable here, but there are many options.
This second TestPunch brings in instant fan-favorite Twintelle to the mix, who instantly wowed Nintendo players with her style. Also, you’ll be able to participate in the Hoops minigame where you try and dunk your opponent, the Skillshot arena where you use your Arms to break targets and mess with your opponent, and even an introduction to an all-new character named Hedlock, who takes over the body of a character and fights you with six arms. Don’t worry, you have two partners at your side for this.
Overall impressions for ARMS have been solid. The Reddit community was digging it and they weren’t the only ones. If you want to get in on the action, just download the demo for free on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and then join in at 1pm Central Time and 7pm Central time today, and then 7am Central Time and 1pm Central Time tomorrow.
ARMS releases on Nintendo Switch June 16th.
