The point of forums is to have open discussion about a large variety of things. For regular forums, the topics can be about anything pretty much. But, for those that are a bit more focused, like say a forum for a particular video game, the intent is to talk about different aspects of the game, relate with other players on topics about the game, and even reveal issues and problems the game is having. It’s a very useful tool when monitored right. But, if you ask the ArcheAge community about their official forum, there’s something weird going on.
This comes from Reddit user Afromax, who note only has played ArcheAge, but has been on their forums for a while. Or at least, he was until he was suddenly banned. The sad part? It’s clear that the team behind the game are “disguising” themselves as regular users according to him:
“Its so sad to see normal users replying to the threads whiteknighting and then out of nowhere you get a ban. Clear indication to me that we are replying to trino employees disguised in normal accounts.”
“Whiteknighting” means to sing praises about something or someone, even if it’s not true. Apparently what’s happening is that the forums aren’t allowing players to voice their concerns or complaints about the game, and if you do, you get banned.
In fact, as many Redditors commented on, any type of dissension or complaint not only gets you banned, but your comments will be removed. It’s so bad that many say it doesn’t even reflect what the game is anymore, it’s just propaganda by the dev team.
Now, obviously we can’t independently confirm this, however, given the numerous people who spoke on this issue and say it is true, it does raise some concerns. What do you think about all of this? Let us know in the comments below.
