While it might be fair to say that the Nintendo Switch is the hottest thing on the video game market, it would be wise to remember that the Nintendo 3DS is also doing quite well. It recently crossed 66 million units sold, and Nintendo has said that they’re going to be supporting the 3DS “beyond 2018.” So it’s clear that they’re not abandoning the handheld in any way. In fact, they even released a video showing off some of the big games that’re coming out this year for the 3DS.
But though these games are announced, it doesn’t mean that all fans are anticipated for them in the same way. So, Reddit user Ughlump asked his fellow 3DS holders what game they were looking forward to most this year. The only caveat being that it couldn’t be Metroid: Samus Returns, as nearly everyone is looking forward to that one.
One of the biggest ones mentioned was Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions. This remake of the classic GBA game will feature not only upgraded graphics, but also an entire sidestory that takes place through the viewpoint of the infamous Koopa’s army.
A surprise pick was Katrielle and the Millionaires Conspiracy, the next title from Level-5’s Professor Layton series. It’ll be getting a port (as it’s launching on mobile in a few weeks) later this fall, and a lot of fans love the Layton series, so to be able to play as his daughter in an all-new adventure? That’s too good to pass up.
Then there’s Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. This is a curious one because fans noted that while they’re somewhat excited, they need to know more about what will make this game different before they are truly pumped.
Uglump summed it up best when he said: “Wow, I forgot how many good games were still on the way. Based off of what you guys are getting I have a lot more to look forward to.”
