The Afreeca Starleague Season 3 has reached semifinals, with only four pro players left in the competition. The ASL pits the greatest StarCraft: Brood War players in the world against each other for the chance to earn the title of world champion, as well as a first place prize of 20,000,000 South Korean Wan, or just shy of US $18,000.

StarCraft: Brood War Pros at ASL

The competition has been fierce at ASL, with the top StarCraft: Brood War players in the world showing off their skills. The remaining competitors this year are Bisu, Shine, Soulkey, and Flash. The semifinal matches take place this Saturday and Sunday at 3pm PDT each day. First up is Bisu against Shine, a match fraught with history already. Both Brood War veterans, Shine and Bisu have been going head to head against each other as far back as 2009. Shine was able to get the better of Bisu that year in what was seen as an upset in the Round of 36. Then, in 2010, Shine defeated Bisu again. In 2011, that lead to Shine purposefully putting Bisu in his group, expecting an easy win. But that time, it was Bisu that emerged victorious.

This is the farthest Soulkey has made it in a Brood War tournament, even mentioning earlier on that he did not want to end up facing Flash. nevertheless, that’s exactly where he finds himself, so it will take everything he has to defeat the defending champion.

The ASL Seminfinals will stream live this Saturday and Sunday at 3pm PDT via AfreecaTV.
