The King has finally returned to kick ass and chew bubblegum…and he’s all out of bubblegum! Celebrating the anniversary of the revolutionary first-person shooter, Gearbox Publishing have announced Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour alongside a first teaser trailer.
This anniversary edition will feature all the glory of the 1996 classic game with additional, never-before-seen content. An all-new episode will feature, containing eight original levels created by original Duke Nukem 3D designers Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray. Players will be able to toggle between the original 1996 graphics engine or in real time play with the original content, rendered to high fidelity and frame rates with the new “True3D Rendering” mode.
“When I first moved out to Texas to join the Duke Nukem 3D development team in the mid-nineties, I could not possibly predict that we were all going to be part of the emergence of the 3D First Person videogame genre that would ultimately impact the entire videogame industry,” said Gearbox President Randy Pitchford. “Making it possible, for Allen, Richard, Lee and Jon to all come back together 20 years later to bring a whole new episode to the classic game is just one of those rare and incredible things that I hope will bring joy and happiness to hardcore videogame fans new and old.”
“So what are we waiting for? Christmas?” Hell no! Prepare to come get some on October 11, 2016 when Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Ready yourself for the upcoming alien invasion, and as Duke would say, “Nobody jacks with our independence!”
