How things look matters in a video game, especially when you’re looking at something every minute of every hour that you play. Now, how things look exactly is dependent on the game, the genre, the development team, and over just what they’re going for. However, if something doesn’t fit the style of the game that’s being presented, players are going to call it out. Take, for example, World of Warcraft. The MMORPG recently had an update/patch that fixed, adjusted, and implemented new things. But, one weird change is catching a particular classes eyes.

Specifically, the Blood Elf females. Apparently, for them and them alone, the weapon sizes for their characters have been grown to a ridiculous size.

“Since the patch the weapons on belf females have become humongous. Daggers look like swords, while swords are like massive 2handers. Not to mention guns, oh god >.<!” says user Alenna¬†on the official forums.

Other Blood Elf players are noticing it too, and the overall reaction is very negative. Plus, many noted that this is not a bug, it is a real thing that Blizzard did via the new patch. This is getting a lot of negative feedback as not only does this not look believable (even getting references to animes), it doesn’t fit the class to many of these World of Warcraft players.

The twist in this tale, is that Blizzard did show this off on the PTR (the Public Test Realm), and apparently, a lot of players tried¬†to tell them that this was a bad idea, yet Blizzard didn’t listen.

“We argued to have this reverted like you wont believe on the PTR forums. Didn’t change their mind so while im mildly hopeful Live response will change their mind im also rather doubtful, ” said player Kaliragoth.

What do you think of this? Should Blizzard revert the weapons back to the way they were? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I honestly kind of like the bigger weapon look. I think that a weapon shouldn’t be scaled to the race because a sword is a sword is a sword no matter if it’s being wielded by the Hulk or a princess. Now, if they’re scaling the same sword to actually be bigger on a belt than on a tauren then I think there’s an issue. The picture in the article looks just fine to me, after all we’re talking about Sulfuron Hand of Ragnaros (the 2 handed weapon of the firelord himself).

  3. I love this change so many weapons just looked way too small on female belfs. Gorehowl always looked like it was a tiny little woodchopper and not like a weapon that would take down Mannoroth in my belf’s hands.

  4. i have noticed this as well especially on my warrior and paladin, and the weapons are very big compared to the character, this is a small race anyway much smaller then most of the average characters(not including gnomes or goblins) the swords basically drag the ground when your walking around, it does look a bit weird. and it’s pretty clear that even though this is not real life, women although strong wouldn’t be able to physically throw something that big around and have much success. i think this would be a very nice change.
