Death Note, the highly popular Japanese manga, is getting a Netflix adaptation. So who do you think would be the most suited person to voice our favorite shinigami? Willem Dafoe. Yeah, Willem’s voice would be perfect for Ryuk without a shadow of a doubt.
Most kids today remember Willem as Norman Osborne from the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie. He gave an amazing performance, as he constantly switched between two personalities, which showed just how much of an amazing actor he is. As soon as this piece of news hit the internet, people started comparing shinigami Ryuk to Dafoe in terms of appearance, and yes, the resemblance is uncanny. Based on the past roles that he has played, you can be assured that his voice and personality suit the role of a bored God of Death.
Released way back in 2003, the popularity of Death Note led it to multiple novel adaptations, an amazing anime series and even a fricking musical. For those of you who don’t know what’s the premise of Death Note, it all revolves around a notebook that kills those who’s name is written in it. The original owner of the notebook was a shinigami, but he got bored and then dropped the notebook into the human world. Sounds quite interesting, doesn’t it?
