Warframe is a relatively popular third-person-shooter from Digital Extremes that has been in beta since 2013. Since the game’s release, Digital Extremes has been buffing, nerfing, tweaking, and balancing every element of the game as referenced in my previous post. Once again, players have spoken up about an aspect of the game they feel that could use reworking – this time through a reddit post.
The post describes the OP’s desire for the Warframe Chroma’s passive ability to be altered, especially after the recent release of Octavia. Essentially, the argument is as follows: since Octavia has a passive and her Mandachord, Chroma should get a new passive while retaining the power of his old one. For those who might not know these passives off hand let me break them down for you.
Octavia’s passive: “Briefly replenishes energy for Octavia and nearby allies when abilities are activated.”
Along with her Mandachord, which allows players to make music and buff themselves and allies by performing actions to the beat, this makes Octavia a valuable addition to any team. The argument is that in order to make Chroma equally as viable, his current passive should be alongside something entirely new.
Chroma’s current passive: “Chosen Energy color dictates the type of Elemental Damage dealt by abilities.”
Chroma’s passive sounds pretty cool, but in practice, it is definitely less so. Many players were hoping for a rework of his skills after the release of his new skin, but one never came. However, the OP has come up with a pretty cool idea in order to make Chroma worthwhile. Taking a page from Octavia’s book, Chroma’s current passive could be made into a toggle-able skill. Pressing a key could switch the elemental damage he does quickly and easily instead of having to go into the arsenal and switch your load-out every other mission. One commenter on the post lends their idea to the OP, stating that if the toggle-able skill was implemented, Chroma’s new passive could be an increase in elemental proc damage. Obviously, this rework would need some fine-tuning from the devs, but it might turn some players onto the idea of using the frame.
What do you think? Do you play Chroma? Would you if these changes were implemented? What frame do you think needs a rework the most?
