The FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Fest to take place in Frankfurt will count with the presence of iconic composer Nobuo Uematsu as well as other prominent names.
Square Enix confirmed today through The Lodestone (FINAL FANTASY XIV’s official website) that acclaimed composer Nobuo Uematsu will make an appearance at the Fan Fest to take place in Frankfurt on the 18th and 19th of February. Mostly famous for the FINAL FANTASY soundtracks, Uematsu is a key composer of FFXIV since 1.0. A selection of ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet him in person in an exclusive signing session. Details on this to be announced at a later date.
Besides the Japanese musician, renowned pianist Benyamin Nuss will perform on stage alongside singer Susan Calloway, whose voice is better known by fans for the tracks “Answers” (the theme of 1.0) and “Dragonsong” (the theme of Heavensward). Closing the event on the second day is the rock band The Primals, known by players for the primal themes.
First released in 2010 to critical and commercial failure, FINAL FANTASY XIV was exceptionally praised on its visuals and soundtrack. Composed mostly by Nobuo Uematsu, the 1.0 soundtrack featured lively orchestrated themes amidst rock pieces and soothing tracks such as “Twilight Over Thanalan”, which still plays every now and again in the 2013 re-release. Uematsu was also largely responsible for the Before the Fall (the soundtrack of the Seventh Astral Era, a storyline taking place between A Realm Reborn and Heavensward) and Heavensward albums.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, as well as its first expansion, Heavensward, are available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC either through Steam or the official website. The second expansion to the Japanese MMORPG will take players to the fallen city-state of Ala Mhigo. Its release on June 20 will mark the end of FFXIV’s PlayStation 3 support.
