With a release date set for June 20, 2017, Stormblood will bring a number of additions alongside the anticipated Red Mage job. One such addition is the ability to swim and dive with or without mounts including regular chocobos. Furthermore, a new beast tribe formed of mermaid-like beings known as Ananta will be introduced. The Ananta inhabit the mountain region near Ala Mhigo and worship the primal Lakshmi, dubbed Lady of Bliss. Finally, the iconic enemy Omega will make a comeback in FINAL FANTASY XIV as a raid boss. Omega is a recurring enemy in FINAL FANTASY games usually engaged as an optional super boss. The machine is often associated with the dragon Shinryu and has been mentioned in FINAL FANTASY XIV lore.

FFXII and Tactics fans can also get excited, for a new alliance raid called Return to Ivalice was announced, although no details have been given. Moreover, the contents of the Stormblood Collector’s Edition were teased on the FINAL FANTASY XIV official Twitter account.

FINAL FANTASY XIV is the second MMORPG in the long-running JRPG franchise developed and published by Square Enix. First released in 2010 to a majority of negative reviews, the game was rebuilt with a new structure and rereleased to critical and commercial success as A Realm Reborn in 2013. It has ever since been one of the most relevant MMOs in the market, with its first expansion, Heavensward, proving to be a success.

Stormblood will be available for pre-order starting January 24. FINAL FANTASY XIV is available for Windows PC, Mac, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
