The first Outlast was a massive success with the horror community, gaining overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and hundreds of thousands of Let’s Plays on Youtube. It was no secret that a second game was in the works, and today they released a trailer for the first-person horror survival game.

The trailer, nearly 2 minutes in length, is every bit as creepy as you might expect it to be. It prominently features what looks to be actual gameplay, which is a nice break from many release trailers we’ve seen as of late. There’s a lot of blood, darkness, and the horror genre staple – flashlights.

The first Outlast, created by Red Barrels, was a smashing success. It was made popular by the Youtube giants PewDiePie and Markiplier, and from there its popularity only continued to grow. The sequel will undoubtedly offer more of the same disgusting, uncomfortable, and down-right heart-stopping elements.

As the trailer fades to black we get a release date: April 25th – this Tuesday. That’s not far off for those who have been pining after this sequel for as long as it has been a rumor. And players on PC, Ps4, and Xbox One will all have it on the same day. If you’re one of those people, make sure you check it out on Steam. It is described there as “a twisted journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets,” with a new antagonist but some familiar protagonists. While there’s no current price tag on Outlast 2, the first one sells for about $20 USD and an extra $9.99 for all the DLC.
