The action RPG NieR: Automata is on everyone’s lips as its release approaches on the PlayStation 4. Although the PC version is still a mystery, PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 players will be able to have a taste for Automata on March 10.

PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 continues the tradition of the Phantasy Star Online franchise but goes over the board with the twist from Phantasy Star Universe. Keeping the instanced aspect, the focus on collecting items, and a nostalgic atmosphere present for the first two to three areas, PSO2 is mostly known for the absurd amount of cosmetics it offers. Nearly every update introduces new costumes, accessories, and sometimes even furniture.

Another aspect most people getting into PSO2 are aware of is that the focus on cosmetics opens a large double tall door for collaborations with other products, be they games, animes, or even stores. Many popular games graced the halls of the ARKS ships in the past, including FINAL FANTASY XIV and Persona 5. Now, it’s time for the androids to take over space.

First announced in December, the collaboration between PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 and NieR: Automata becomes available on March 10. During the latest episode of PSO2 Station, the developers revealed further details of this collaboration, including the cosmetics that will be available and a video showcasing all of them.

Female characters will have the chance to dress up as either 2B, 9S, or A2, while male characters will only be given the costume and accessories worn by 9S. Additionally, weapons from NieR: Automata will become weapon camos and mag evolution devices will allow players to transform their robot companions into the support robots that accompany the androids.

Finally, saying the phrase ニーア発売おめでとう in chat anytime until the maintenance on March 1st will bestow players with an Emil Head and a Free Salon Pass. The Free Salon Pass is a one-time consumable that lets players freely customize their characters with options that would otherwise require AC.
